The notice to proceed (NTP) for the construction of the initial 87-megawatt Burgos wind power (BWP) facility of publicly-listed Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has already been issued to its project contractor, Danish firm Vestas.
“Following the issuance of NTP, the full construction effort will immediately get under way, at the 600-hectare site covering three barangays, namely Saoit, Poblacion and Nagsurot in Burgos, Ilocos Norte,” the company has noted in a press statement.
It said that since the groundbreaking rites in April, “certain preparatory early works had been undertaken at the site,” leading to the next phase which is the full swing construction of the facility.
The Lopez firm reiterated that it will be expanding the plant’s capacity to 150 megawatts. The commercial commissioning target for the initial 87MW will be latter part of 2014; while the capacity ramp up to 150MW is seen by 2015.
EDC president and chief executive officer Richard B. Tantoco noted that “the BWP is a major pillar of our P32-billion investment plan this year.”
He added that the project “will be proceeding as planned given our fully funded business plan and the proven Vestas technology.”   source
