The Energy Regulatory Commission granted power distributor Manila Electric Co. a provisional authority to implement a P371-million project to modernize its asset information system.
“The commission hereby provisionally approves the application filed by Meralco for authority to implement its Enterprise Asset Management System,” the ERC said in its decision.
The ERC said the recovery of the project cost would be addressed in Meralco’s next application where it would be reviewed together with the other aspects of operations.
The decision stated that starting this year, the cost of the system, once approved would not be factored in Meralco’s rates for the current regulatory period. The estimated rate impact of the EAM project is about P0.002 per kilowatt-hour over the life of the project.
“The estimated rate impact for the 2013 to 2015 will be the estimated deferred amount that will be factored in its fourth regulatory period reset calculations,” ERC said. source
