D.O.E. okays grid impact study for three power projects

By Lenie Lectura - January 22, 2018

The Department of Energy (DOE) has cleared three power projects for the conduct of a grid impact study (GIS).
A clearance for the conduct of a GIS is necessary for a power firm before it can proceed with the construction of its power project.
The proposed projects could generate a total of 654-megawatts (MW).
Based on a recently released DOE data, the project proponents that were allowed to proceed with the GIS are Solar Philippines Commercial Rooftop Projects Inc., Isabela Power Corp. and Energence Renewable Energy Corp.
Solar Philippines plans to put up a 2×300 MW solar-power facility in Iba-Palauig, Zambales. It was issued the green light for the conduct of a GIS on November 2, 2017.
Isabela Power, meanwhile, plans to put up a 19-MW hydro-power plant in San Mariano and San Guillermo, Isabela.
Energence Renewable also plans to put up a solar plant with a 35-MW capacity in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
The DOE’s go ahead to Isabela Power was issued last November 17, while Energence secured its approval last November 24.
