Sunwest Water and Electric Co. submitted the lowest bid to address the power requirements of Tablas Island in Romblon.
The Tablas Island Electric Cooperative’s bids and awards committee declared Suweco’s bid of P11.2295 per kilowatt-hour blended rate of bunker and hydro as the lowest. It bested the offers of three other bidders, including DMCI Power Corp., Monark and Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp.
Tablas Island is currently experiencing frequent power interruptions and severe load shedding because of the unreliable supply of power from Napocor-SPUG’s generating plant.
The opening of the technical and financial bid proposals were conducted in public on Jan. 30 and witnessed by the representatives from the National Electrification Administration, Energy Department, Commission on Audit, Romblon State University, local government units and employees of the cooperative.
Suweco president Jose Silvestre Natividad said the company’s bid was a blended rate of bunker and mini-hydro for lower cost and increased power sustainability and reliability. source
