Alcantara firm rushes Iligan power plant job

Mapalad Power Corp., the unit of the Alcantara Group that operates the 98-megawatt Iligan Diesel Power Plant, and the Energy Regulatory Commission vowed to ensure the timely delivery of electricity to key areas of Mindanao by election day on May 13.
Mapalad Power is rushing the rehabilitation of the dormant power plant while the ERC is speeding up access of key Mindanao distribution utilities to the power it will generate.
Mapalad Power is speeding up the repair program to allow the plant to begin operating on a ramp-up basis since the Alcantara Group took control of the 20-year-old diesel plant on March 11.
Company technicians and contractor teams have been working long hours to make certain the ongoing ramp-up will result in the availability of an initial electrical capacity by the week of May 6 and achieve the full 98-MW capacity by September 2013. The Alcantara Group is spending P1.2 billion covering the acquisition, rehabilitation and other costs to reactivate the diesel plant.
Mapalad Power and several major distribution utilities in Mindanao together with local government officials asked the ERC to expedite the process of approving the power sales agreements. The approval is needed before Mapalad Power can begin delivering power to the distributors.   source
