MANILA, Philippines – Solar
integrated systems provider Solar Green Heat Corp. has installed the biggest
roof-mounted solar power plant in Marikina City.
It said it put up a solar
photovoltaic systems at St. Scholastica’s Academy of Marikina (SSAM) that will
help the education institution generate P19 million in electricity savings
annually.
The solar power installation
consists of 102-kilowatt peak (kWp) system in SSAM’s two buildings, which can
generate at least 250,000 kilowatt-hours.
The grid-connected installation
located in Marikina Heights produces approximately 40 percent of SSAM’s
electricity consumption.
“Our solar rooftops are part of the
green measures that we have initiated in our campus through our conservation
committee,” SSAM treasurer Sr. Celeste Licas said.
“This includes the use of LED in our
lighting system and inverter air-conditioners to reduce carbon dioxide emission
and subsequently save on our electricity bill,” she said.
Green Heat has registered SSAM’s
solar PV system under the government’s net metering program, allowing the
school to sell the surplus electricity it produces during weekends, holidays
and breaks back to the grid.
SSAM’s solar rooftop installation
follows that of its sister school, St. Scholastica’s College. Green Heat was
also the systems provider at its Manila campus in 2014.
A 96-kWp of solar power facility was
installed at the school’s St. Cecille Hall, generating 38.88 percent of the
daily requirements of building and bringing savings of P400,000 per month.
Green Heat is a local solar power
company that specializes in the design and construction of solar PV power
systems.
Among its milestone projects are the
solar rooftops of Asian Development Bank, Asia Brewery Inc., Manila Electric
Co., Wilcon Depot, and other schools like Manuel L. Quezon University and St.
Paul College of Parañaque.
