National Grid Corp. of
the Philippines (NGCP), operator of the country’s power transmission network,
is tapping movie theaters to show video campaigns on transmission line safety
and protection, and on guarding against right-of-way violations.
NGCP said it had tied
up with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to
promote transmission line safety and security.
As NGCP expands its
safety and ROW information campaign, it said, it approached the MTRCB to help
it reach wider audience by showing safety and anti-pilferage public service
videos in movie theaters.
The partnership was
formalized on June 16 through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding or
MoU between the agencies, with NGCP represented by board director and chief
administrative officer Anthony L. Almeda, and MTRCB, by chair Eugenio H.
Villareal.
In the MOU, both
companies committed to “protect the physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual
and social well-being of the youth and other vulnerable sectors, inculcating
patriotism and nationalism, and encouraging their involvement in public and
civic affairs,” including safety, anti-pilferage and right-of-way of the
nationwide transmission assets.
MTRCB, which supervises
and regulates the public exhibition of motion pictures, television programs,
and publicity materials, was more than willing to help NGCP by “making
available relevant expert information and other resources, to enable NGCP to
mobilize the dissemination of its line safety campaign material to local
theater operators.”
