MANILA - The Lopez
Group on Thursday said 3 of its companies bagged big wins at the Asia
Sustainability Reporting (ASR) Rating 2018 in Bandar Lampung, Sumatra,
Indonesia.
In a statement, the
Lopez Group said 3 of its companies brought home recognition from the ASR 2018
held by the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR), in
collaboration with the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners
(ICSP).
First Philippine
Holdings (FPH) was awarded the platinum rank, while its subsidiary, First Gen
Corp bagged the silver rank. Meanwhile, the Energy Development Corp was awarded
with a gold rank, the statement said.
The ASR Rating is
conferred to companies that have successfully communicated their sustainability
performance to stakeholders through sustainability reports.
“The recognitions
awarded to the First Philippine Holdings, First Gen Corporation, and Energy
Development Corporation validate the extensive efforts we have been putting
into ensuring we have sustainable operations,” FPH Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer Federico Lopez said.
“Climate change is the
biggest threat to humanity, and sustainability has been weaved into our
business operations, as we do our part in mitigating the effects of climate
change," he said.
FPH has interests
energy, property, construction, and energy services. Its subsidiary, First Gen,
owns and operates 22 power plants across the country with a total of 3,471
megawatts of capacity. EDC is the largest producer of geothermal energy in the
country.
